Description
Le Chat Noir can be found one street back from the waterfront at Terrigal behind the Crown Plaza hotel. It’s owned by the same people that run the Little Frog restaurant in Wyong that I would have to say is probably my favourite restaurant on the Central Coast. Given that, my expectations were set quite high and I’m glad to say that they were either met or exceeded by the quality of the food and service delivered.
The building itself is nice and airy with the bulk of the seating set in an enclosed veranda. The bulk of these seats have water glimpses out past the Crown Plaza hotel but the view isn’t that special. As the name implies, Le Chat Noir is a French themed restaurant, the walls are tastefully decorated with pictures of and from France and the background music sounded like it was all French in origin.
Overall it all fits together very well and just feels like a nice place to be. One thing I will say though is that Le Chat Noir feels like an Australian version of a French restaurant where their other Restaurant, The Little Frog in Wyong feels a lot more intimate and closer to that of a traditional restaurant in France.

The Meal
To start I had the Foie gras de Canard. This was followed by the Confit de Canard or Duck Confit for my main meal and was followed by the Assiette de Chocolat or Assorted Chocolate treats for dessert. The standard of the food from start to finish was simply outstanding.
While the Foie gras, while obviously out of a tin, was complimented beautifully by the walnut salad it came with and the toasted baguette was just right. The Duck Confit was beautifully presented, so tender it was falling off the bone and perfectly matched with the accompanying vegetables. As for the dessert, each of the chocolate treats from the white through to the dark was exquisitely rich and delicious. There were absolutely no complaints what so ever on the food front.
The service was generally very good too however it did become evident that they had underestimated the number of customers on the day we were there as there was an awkward period where they were obviously swamped and the service slowed right down. It was however rescued as they called in reinforcements to finish off the service. Even through the busy period, the staff maintained a friendly demeanour and were helpful so no real complaints here.

The key here is consistency! Consistently good food at a reasonable price. A definite recommendation. We will be back.
