To start the meal, I selected the Prawns with seafood Tortellini and my wife had the Turkish bread & Hommus dip. Now, when I go out to a restaurant, I’m looking for a dish that explodes with flavour and makes me forget about everything else and just enjoy eating the dish. The Prawns and Seafood Tortellini does this, it has to be one of the best that I’ve ever eaten. It was well balanced with all the flavours coming through in just the right way and it left me wanting more. In comparison, the Turkish bread & Hommus dip was just average. There was nothing really wrong with it. It just lacked the wow factor of the other dish.
For the main course, I had the Sumac Lamb and my wife chose the Pithivier of Duck. The lamb was generally good; it was well cooked and nicely tender but unfortunately again lacked the major wow factor that I was looking for after the first course.
The Pithivier of Duck was quite spectacular in its presentation whereby it comes out in a free standing pastry case surrounded by the vegetables and cherry sauce on a bed of soft polenta. It was therefore a great shame that the pastry was not quite cooked properly and as a result was quite doughy and hard to eat. |
