Tinglewood Wines and Puzzle Shop

Tinglewood Wines and Puzzle Shop

One of the oldest and smallest wineries in the region, Tinglewood’s production is limited to just two varieties. The offering, while limited in scope is none the less good. On the white wine side they make a Yellow Tingle or Riesling in both the dry and late picked styles while for the Reds they make a Red Tingle or 50/50 blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Shiraz.

The other main feature of this winery is the Puzzle Shop. It has a large number of Puzzles, Jigsaws and games on offer, quite a few of which you can have a go at in the shop. In fact, given that we passed a large group of kids leaving as we were arriving and the place looked like a bomb had just hit it, I’d say that they are quite happy to have people come in for a visit as the puzzle shop also serves as a kind of café where you can get coffee and the like.

Right from arriving you can tell it’s a family run business where the owner was friendly and happy to have a chat. In fact the small scale nature of the place became fully apparent when we decided to buy a bottle of the Red Tingle. While they do accept credit cards, none of our cards would work in their machine. On leaving it became apparent why. They only have one phone line that was busy trying to send a fax. Fortunately, we had cash on us so it wasn’t too much of an issue. I don’t know what they’d have done if we didn’t though.

Overall, the wine is good and the puzzles are entertaining so I’d say it’s worth a visit.
